SLABS

Live edge slabs might be one of purest representations of a tree in wood form and it is definitely one of the funnest to produce. Each piece is unique and honors the tree by telling it’s story in a quick snapshot of its life. After milling the tree we put it it in one of our kilns to be dried until it has a 6-8% moisture content. This helps to mitigate as much wood movement as possible to help retain its final shape. After the slabs are removed from the kiln they are entered into our database where they are photographed, measured and tracked by location. Finally they’re flattened on our CNC machine which makes the piece parallel to itself and removes the rough sawn surface to revel the grain and features in the wood.

If you’re interested in purchasing a slab, contact retail@angelcitylumber.com and we can send you photos and dimensions of the slabs we have that could best fit your project. We can also tell you where they lived in LA and when they came down.
